1999 HARLEY-DAVIDSON SPORTSTER CHOPPER CUSTOM

This Harley-Davidson Sportster is a stunning custom creation based on an original XL833C, and dubbed the ‘Chopper’ by its creators. It is powered by a 1.2-litre Revtech engine, which exits through twin SuperTrapp exhausts. The odometer shows 2,280 miles since the custom build, and prior to this the original bike had covered approximately 30,600 miles.

Its foundation is a genuine UK-market Sportster, first registered on 12 March 1999, which was rebuilt into its current design by Attitude Cycles in Southampton around 2006 to 2007. Having been acquired by the vendor in February 2018, the motorcycle has remained carefully stored in a dehumidified garage as part of his collection.

The custom bike features a huge swing arm frame, which is equipped with hydraulic air ride, with a full lift in 15 seconds. Its wheels are 17-inch split-rim items, and the two main body fairing sections received a custom paint job in black with green accents.

Other custom features include a quick-release fuel cap, a xenon headlight, a flip-out side stand, and a Dakota Digital MCV-7000 speedometer and tachometer. The ignition is by a hidden switch to prevent theft, and the car is also adorned with the appropriate registration ‘T200 HOG’, which is included in the sale.

The last maintenance was carried out in December 2017 at Attitude Cycles, at approximately 2,200 miles, which consisted of an oil and filter change. It was last put through an MOT test on 19 November 2018 at an indicated 2,272 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories or defects. The bike covered a further eight miles immediately after this, and has been safely stored for the last two years.

While a new MOT has not been organised due to Covid-19 restrictions, the vendor believes there is no reason it will not pass a test easily given the mileage since. It has just been fitted with a new battery, and the vendor states that it starts first time, every time. The wheels are fitted with Avon tyres at the front and rear, which remain in excellent condition.

Accompanying the bike is a history file of paperwork as shown in the gallery, the current V5C, plus paperwork relating to the digital speedometer and the motor that was sourced in the US. The bike is also fitted with a Clifford GP1000T immobiliser that comes with an installation certificate.

This Harley-Davidson Sportster ‘Chopper’ is a striking show bike, which would also be great fun to ride on the road. It boasts a unique assembly of components that gives it an eye-catching aesthetic, not to mention a dramatic rake design.
