Introducing Buy Now or Best Offer

Over the last few days, you will no doubt have noticed a change to the Collecting Cars homepage. At the heart of this redesign is the launch of the improved ‘Buy Now or Best Offer’ service; an alternative to selling at auction, where cars are now listed for up to 14 days with a stated asking price – and with the ability for members to make a firm offer.

The new homepage design shows a wider variety of listings at a glance. Members can now see both auctions and ‘Buy Now’ listings ending soonest, the most recently sold listings, and some of the listings coming soon, all in one place.

For members keen to see more of one particular type of listing, the ‘View all’ buttons under each section go straight to the full lists under each category, enabling the easy-to-filter search facility that users will already be familiar with.

The improved ‘Buy Now or Best Offer’ service allows a vehicle to be listed for sale with a specific asking price, but also with the opportunity for bidders to put forward a figure they are willing to pay. The seller can either accept the offer, or counter, and the negotiation can continue until a sale is agreed.

Sellers pay nothing to list a car in Collecting Cars ‘Buy Now or Best Offer’. As with our auctions, buyers pay a premium of 6% (+VAT for UK buyers), capped at £6,000 (+VAT), which is deducted automatically from the total price.
