KEY FACTS

• An as-new example of Ford’s ‘unrestricted’ track car, designed to showcase the full performance capabilities of the latest GT model chassis and engine.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• The most recent generation of the Ford GT has already experienced considerable motorsport success, but the racing car is by design a limited version of the vehicle to meet various FIA regulations.
• Ford built the GT MkII as an ‘unleashed’ version of the supercar, not governed by any specific motorsport regulations or category criteria - purely built for outright speed on circuits.
• There are race-derived aerodynamics including front splitter and canards, fender louvres, a vast rear wing, and underfloor routing with a rear diffuser. It is reported to be capable of generating more than 2G of lateral grip.
• The GT MkII is more than 200lb lighter than the road car, with much of the saving down to the removal of the adjustable ride height suspension. Instead, it is equipped with five-way adjustable, race-derived Multimatic DSSV shock absorbers with a fixed ride height.
• The bodywork features a roof-mounted air intake to feed the auxiliary engine, clutch, and transmission coolers.
• Cooling is also enhanced with a high capacity air-to-air outboard mounted charge air cooler with water spray technology, which automatically activates in high-temperature situations to apply atomized water on the cooler.
• It rides on lightweight forged aluminium 19-inch wheels, shod in race-specification Michelin Pilot Sport GT slicks, and housing substantial 15.5-inch front and 14.1-inch rear carbon-ceramic brake rotors.
• Inside, the Ford GT MkII is equipped with a full FIA-compliant roll cage. There is also a bespoke Sparco racing seat with six-point harness, plus the optional passenger seat.
• A full MoTeC data acquisition system is included, incorporating a rear camera display.
