1980 MASERATI QUATTROPORTE

This 1980 Maserati Quattroporte is a resplendent Italian luxury sports saloon. Its 4,136cc carburettor-fed V8 engine starts and runs smoothly, powered through a three-speed automatic transmission. Now showing 93,509 km (58,104 miles) from new, which is believed to be the correct mileage, it is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.

With its Certificate of Origin issued on 8 October 1980, this third-generation Quattroporte was sold new to to Cristallerie Venete di Borghesan (a Venetian glassworks) through Maserati dealer O. Ferasin on 17 October 1980 and first registered on number TV 472618. The car remained within the family of the first owner for 35 years, selling the car in February 2015 to a private owner from Brunico.

The elegant Giugiaro-styled coachwork is finished in Marrone Colorado (Chestnut brown) over a tan leather interior trimmed with briar wood veneers on the dashboard, centre console and door panels — precisely the same colour combination as the brochure car.

The car appears to be highly original, with patina showing on the front badge, and has clearly been preserved with a high level of attention and care. It is still fitted with its original Blaupunkt radio and 15-inch Campagnolo alloy wheels, and all four tyres have plenty of tread remaining.

The car has been well-maintained throughout its life, with its original Maserati Warranty Certificate (number 11941) showing its delivery coupon on 24 October 1980, a service at 2,094km on 13 January 1981 and another at 11,214km on 1 July 1981. It was clear that the first owner used and enjoyed the car during that first year, putting almost 10,000 km on the odometer in just six months.

Within the car’s history file, there are over seven additional technical inspections, dating from 1991 to 2014, and numerous pages of historical documentation. It has never left Italy, and was registered with the Automotoclub Storico Italiano (L’A.S.I.) on 16 April 2007 and was later given a Chronological Certificate by the Automobilia Club d’Italia on 28 March 2019.

The car is being sold with its original warranty and assistance booklet, owner’s manual, both a master key and spare key, and its original black-plate Treviso/Italian registration. With just two private owners from new, this 1980 Maserati Quattroporte is a beautiful example of Giorgetto Giugiaro’s iconic styling.
